Seagulls are not doves.

So the reason I've been stressed out about being sick is because I've had important, non-optional things that needed doing this week. In particular: this morning I had the pleasure of joining the hands of jd and ryan in marriage. Gods bless the great state of California (and also them and their household).

In lieu of rings, there was a handfasting, thus I was strictly prohibited from making any "knotting" references during the ceremony. (That waited until the drive back, where we had to explain it to Ryan.)

Everything was lovely, the little grackle perched on the great big leafy bush throughout the ceremony, the cakes were delicious (my Overlady advises that while it's "redundancy" in storage, it's not appropriate for cakes because the intention is that all the cake gets eaten. Eventually), and no one threw up, passed out, had a massive coughing fit in the middle of the ceremony, pulled a Ted Mosby, or otherwise disgraced themselves.

No one wore cake except the cake topper. Licking the cake topper is perhaps not traditional, but I was sort of waiting for it to happen after it got frosting on it to start with.

Their anniversary is now the same day as Harry Potter's birthday.
