Anime Night, now with bonus automatic weapons.

I'm really not sure how to describe anime night. It started off as a riotously fun party situation, and then the booze came out and it got even more entertaining. Fun was had by all, more beautifully cracktastic business plans came out, there was anime (King of Bandits Jing in 7th Heaven, all three episodes), pizza, and musicgeeking.

At the end of the night, as we were de-convening with much hilarity, JD glomped English. Standard JD bouncy hug, complete with not entirely sober.

English grabbed his AK-47, dove into the closet, and ordered us out. Out we went.

I'm still processing, and I'm not entirely sure what to think of this. It's at least mildly disturbing.

You know what I think of the guy's reaction, so not gonna repeat it here. But "at least"? "mildly"???

Impression I got in channel is that English took part in the imbibing. Is that correct?

Yes, he did. I was, too, even though I don't drink much.

Then he was, in effect, controlling (or under the impression he was controlling) a deadly device while intoxicated. I don't think it makes any difference whether it's a car, a weapon, or a chainsaw.

Let's add that he pings radars, y'know? Which is why the whole "he's from TX" thing explains everything, or at least it does to me. As I said in my post over things, I don't think he'd have done anything, not seriously. (that, and I pulled everyone out for confusion). Myrrh didn't even realize there had been a gun...she was behind the door. And, on the way home, we agreed it was an over reaction, but it's the post that really disturbs. But, I still don't think he would have done anything. *shrugs*

Honestly? If I had a gun around, that could very well be my reaction on a particularly bad day. I've got *massive* issues with being touched without leave - I nearly decked a little old lady at a casino the other day because she came up behind me without my knowing and hugged me. I spent the next two hours shaking like a leaf, spent an hour or so vomiting, and couldn't sleep without four valium, two Tylenol with codeine, and a tumblerful of whisky. I'm not much better when I get back to NV from Phoenix -- I curl up in a ball and hide for days.

Not saying it's an acceptable reaction -- G-d knows it's one of the reasons I don't have a gun in the house, and though I'm probably getting one, it'll be in a double-locked safe to which I only have one key. But I do suspect I know where he's coming from, at least.

Having read the updates? Yeah, fuck that noise. I wouldn't go within a million miles of him again. The mental image I'd conjured up was the gun was extremely handy (e.g. in a closet right next to him) and he outright panicked. Not "ew teh ghey it touched me get out or I shoot." That's completely ... no.

It wasn't until I read the comments that I realised you meant a real AK-47. Personally, I find that disturbing entirely of itself.

If someone - male or female - glomped me without warning and permission, I would be extremely unhappy. When I first went out to Texas to meet E, I was seriously worried that my dislike of being touched would cause problems. As it turned out, I'm - say, 95% of the time - fine when it's her. But I'm not fine when other random people touch me.

However, knowing this, I do just tend to avoid people. If you put yourself in a situation where there's drinking and bouncy drunk people, then shit like that will happen. If that's going to disturb or upset you, then you need to keep in better control of the situations you let yourself get into.

(The only time I've been glomped onto without permission by someone other than E in the last, oh, 18 months or so, was actually at work. The girl I sat next to at my previous job thought I looked sad when I was sitting in the break area, and have me a hug. That was uncomfortable, but well-meaning.)

Wow. And I thought [livejournal.com profile] ataniell93's description of her reaction to unexpected hugs was extreme.... *shudder*
