Cherries...

Yum!

I pitted these cherries, soaked them in vodka for a while, with sugar, then strained them out of the vodka, sugared them rather thoroughly, let them sit for a while, and am now eating them.

Yum.

I'll have to make a repeat performance of this, and then use the resulting cherries in fruitcake or something, and leave it where kid/cat can't get at it.

Should I have?

I'm not particularly well-educated when it comes to movies and the like. If it came out before 1995, odds are I haven't seen it -- if it came out before 1998 and isn't science fiction of some kind, odds are I haven't seen it. If it's not on the "Oh my god you've got to see this Joanie" list of some of my friends, odds are I haven't seen it at all.

Grew up w/o a tv. Still don't watch much.

It was a movie from the 80s.. It woulda been worth a laugh or two if you'd seen it, considering recent events and the subject (cherry pits; alcohol)

Sounds like the perfect party food. I may have to try that with the rest of the cherries in my fridge. *grins* But wiht my luck, I would end up eating them all as I was pitting them and be left with stems.

I have yet to figure out how to keep them from turning brown, however. I have an inkling that the key is avoiding exposure to oxygen in the critical period.

I'm also contemplating some form of sinful dessert involving cherries prepared in this fashion, peaches treated similarly, and chocolate. Hmm.
