Old Bio

Feel free to leave comments and/or friend me. I may or may not comment back and/or friend you back; my standards of "interesting" are distinctly nonstandard and subject to my whimsical Gemini Air mood. [Local Weather]

Born Alaskan: general Fairbanks area. Stayed Alaskan for 20 years. Moved to Arizona. Might stay there forever, depending on my sister. I'm attending DeVry, Computer Information Systems, in Phoenix, and I'm in my fifth term there. I am a switch from Business Information Systems. There are a lot fewer idiots in CIS.

I have at least a passing interest in BDSM. For the convenience of my friends, the majority of these entries are filtered. To keep track of my friends from various fandoms, I have a few other opt-in filters. To apply to join any of these filters, leave a comment here.

When reading my journal, you may notice that my references to myself vary. I occasionally refer to myself, or various nicknames, in the third person, in the plural... this is largely because I have been and am more than one personality in one body. From approximately 1994 to 2001, there were up to four distinct personalities: Joan-prime, Shanna, Mona, and the fourth. The fourth persona-space has been filled by T'Kay, Laughing Hawk, and, most recently, Azure Lunatic. I split because I had no one to talk to, and remained split for administrative reasons, including depression management. In the spring of 2001, we the Collective merged into one relatively coherent whole. At least, that's what we thought. In the late summer of 2002, [livejournal.com profile] evealone brought to our attention that we were not as integrated as we thought we had been. Our primary "front man" identifies with the body-name, and is the gentler of the two personae, reminiscent of Joan-prime and Mona, with some aspects of Shanna and a little Azz. The other half self-identifies as Dagger, and labels the primary persona "Garnet". Dagger is the ideological descendant of the Shanna and Azz factions. As a whole, we answer to any reasonable mutation of any of our names.

I am a witch, but I don't do curses. However, since this is a special occasion, here.

I babble about people I know in my journal, because they're a part of my day-to-day life. I'm more social than I might appear if you first see me withdrawn and reading a book; these people enrich my life, even if in some cases I may not see that at first glance.

Cast of Characters:

Household: Residents of the apartment, known as the Temple.

House Rules: mostly for the sake of keeping the peace, avoiding destruction, and advocating good behavior and tidiness.

The Computers: No gamergeek household is complete without a discussion of the machines, who have personalities all their own.

Good Friends: The people I try to keep in contact with, those outside the household and immediate family who get the most love.

Old Crew: People we used to know, or maybe still do, who used to be very close, and probably would be again if we got back in contact.

Assorted Families: Votania and I don't live with our parents anymore (we are the parents, which is a scary thought), but here they, and other assorted relatives, not just of us, are.

School: These are the people I see from day to day at DeVry.

Assorted Random Other:

Chick: Dude's girlfriend, who lived in our apartment complex until mid-September 2001.
Evan: a friend of a friend of a friend, who's hitting on me. (Friend of Darkside's friend the webcartoonist.) Evan guest-stars in the Neoranger thread on http://fogclub.keenspace.com
Sabrina, [livejournal.com profile] teenagewitch: The daughter of another DeVry CIS student; dated Neighbor.
