Envy

[livejournal.com profile] yaksha42, my incredibly sweet boyfriend, wore his "I fancy Joan/Joan fancies me" necklace to school today. (I wore my complementary one this morning, but took it off when I had my afternoon nap...)

At any rate, he got some questions as to who, exactly, this 'Joan' was. When he revealed that I was a CIS major, one of the guys got huffy. Evidently he'd been trying to score with a CIS chick for some time, and then Yakky, who hadn't even been trying, had just had this delicious prize fall into his lap...

Amusement was had by all, except for the guy with the lonely wang.

It's amusing or disturbing, depending on my mood, when I come across guys who are boggled by females who actually like programming. It's also apparently tremendously scary for some males to speak about porn in mixed company, which I can somewhat understand depending on past experience, but which gives me a dreadful urge to bring it up to watch squirming.

It is also hard to discuss porn aimed at straight men without straight-men-bashing, but I think it would be equally hard to discuss most romance novels[1] without straight-women-bashing. Popular fluffy genres are fluffy.

[1] I need to reread _Gaudy Night_. Very cute, well-written romance novel. Not in the porn category of romance novels, though.

Doesn't it feel great to be a delicious prize? I love it when guys get all freakin' excited because I am a geeky girl. I'm not even THAT geeky. Just a lot more geeky than most reasonably attractive girls my age, I guess. That quality of mine never seemed to turn anyone on when I was a teenager. :)

Yes, mostly. And other random geekboys I meet. Non-geeks rarely care that I am geeky. But they don't necessarily flock to me. :)

Geeks usually like me. Other guys usually don't. Other guys usually suck anyway.
