Yes, because I still seem to keep dating.

If I knew I would lose the friend if it didn't work out, then no, I wouldn't date. If I just feared it, but thought it could be avoided, then I would.

Add in a nasty insecurity complex and the conviction that you are a complete ass-bastard, and you don't know why your few friends put up with you.

I'm only convinced I'm a complete ass-bastard some of the time. And I'm pretty sure I'm a good friend, but I know what you mean.

I'm going with the "you never know until you try" philosophy at the moment. This is rare for me. Perhaps someone has slipped me something in my drink.

I'm not sure. It's very odd, and I'm not sure I've experienced anything like it before. It may well be some sort of hallucinogen.
