Interesting.

Reiki feels gingermint.

Hot and cold, powerful, almost overpowering, but pleasant.

Are you being treated, or doing the treating? Or both?

Reiki?

O.o

Reiki is something thats always intrigued me. Too bad I dont know anyone locally who'd be willing to show me a bit more about it "firsthand" as it were.

The price they ask for initiation has always put it out of reach though. :/ I understand the whole concept of having to pay for the lessoning, but $700? IMHO thats abusive.

Okay, where are you?

I received my Reiki master attunement from a non-traditional practitioner half a year ago, and I haven't studied the materials enough to be entirely familiar with the process of giving attunements -- that's the perils of getting it without the expensive classes, y'see; the stuff isn't drilled into your brain like so, you receive the abilities and have to back them up with knowledge on your own time -- but DAMN. Someone's trying to charge you $700 for a basic attunement? They're full of llama dung. Average 'fair price' for a first degree attunement is between $50 and $200, last time I checked, and once I have Practiced to the extent that my head knows what my energy system knows (which is kind of the purpose that Azz-as-guinea-pig ought to serve) I'll gladly show up at your door . . .

I'd ask for nothing, but my finances are low, and by 'low' I mean . . . well, the whole absurd situation is explained in my livejournal somewhere in the last couple of screens. No money, great car, great friends, can't live at home for the sake of sanity; somebody seems to have written YOU MUST ROADTRIP on my forehead. So I am. Whee! Anyway, I won't charge you any more than you can pay, and since *checks your profile* you're in New York, I'm already going to be in your area at some point, it won't cost me too much in gas.

I think the $700 was for like a 6 hour seminar thing, but it just seemed so bloody outrageous thats what sticks in my head *smile*

I dont believe Ive ever seen an offer for attunements for under $200 though, and I just cant afford that. This IS NY, and yes, everything here is more expensive, but SHEESH.

Wanderlust eh? I'm just the reverse myself, someone chained my heart to this city while I wasnt paying attention!

*nods* I did the same thing--had treatments for about six months, and then had the attunements done.

If you haven't read it yet, I highly recommend Diane Stein's Essential Reiki. It not only covers what Reiki is and how to use it, it includes information on the symbols and the process for doing attunements. (Some people don't believe those should be in print, but since Reiki requires attunements before the symbols can be used, I don't see the problem.)

Personally, I teach Reiki for free, but I'm in Dallas, so that doesn't help much in this case. ^_^

Yep, that's the Big Book I have and use. :-) Both of the people who've given me attunements insisted I must have it . . .
