Cast of Characters: Families

Assorted Families

Votania's Family: There is no love lost between Votania and her family. Some of them are cool, some of them are not. All of the ones mentioned here so far are resident somewhere in Arizona.

Grandma: Votania's mother. Her few really damn nice moments make for much confusion when she's bitchy and rude the rest of the time.

Grandpa: Votania's father, a really cool dude with excellent taste in music and computer entertainments.

That Woman: The other daughter of Sis's mother and father, the mother of Sis's neices. Nobody in my household likes her.
Jewel: That Woman's oldest daughter, the brilliant one. Getting to have an attitude like her mother's, regrettably.

Jade: That Woman's middle daughter, the sweet one. Likes rocks.

Krystal: That Woman's youngest daughter, the baby.

Glyph: The husband of That Woman, who adores his daughters as is right and proper. His location is currently unknown. He shows up every now and then, like for holidays, but is otherwise invisible.

Great-Grandma: Grandma's mother.

Great-Aunt: Votania's great-aunt is a church secretary, and a very sweet lady, who does not see any religion other than Christianity as very much of a Good Thing.

Blabbermouth Cousin: Anything he hears, he broadcasts to the rest of the family. This is the one who brought [livejournal.com profile] hot_chocolate into the family.

Assorted aunts and uncles, not all of whom live in Arizona.

The Lunatic's Family
Mama: my mother. Quilter, potter, musician; biologist by college training. Lives in Alaska. Recovering from having her babies fly out of the nest; is now figuring out that there are many interesting things that can be done when you don't need to stay home to take care of babies/kids/teenagers/pets.

FatherSir: my father. Retired programmer, ham (AL1I), surrogate grandfather to a number of kids, violinist; does well at anything he turns his hand to. Lives in Alaska.

Narcissa, Biosis: my one biological sister. Fiddler & poet & composer & caffiene addict & all-around joy. Lives in Washington state with River. Is the fiddler for the Irish drinking song band Bare Knuckle Boxers. Wrote a song for my favorite fayoumis Calico.

River: Narcissa's ex-fiance, also an ex-boyfriend of mine, and friend of mine from high school. Still a good friend. Washington state somewhere, with Narcissa. He's still part of the family, whether he marries one of us or not.

Aunt-Fayoumis: FatherSir's next-youngest sibling. Great fun. Lives in California, like the rest of my more immediate paternal relatives. Has an appropriately raunchy sense of humor, a mark of the family.

Uncle-Fayoumis: The quiet, mild-mannered husband of Aunt-Fayoumis. Uncle-Fayoumis is very, very shy. More shy than Darkside, even. He likes computers, but seems to be an eternal Clueful User. He seems to have mellowed, or grown more into his own, since last I met him.

Guide-Dog Aunt: My father's youngest sister, who raises guide dogs for fun. She also has the family sense of humor. She's on a perpetual health-food kick, which means that junk food doesn't happen very much around her. Like Narcissa, Guide Dog Aunt likes to run things. She lives in the San Francisco area in California.

Guide-Dog Uncle: The husband of Guide-Dog Aunt, a relatively quiet guy in the genetic engineering field. He likes to ski.
Randall: the older cousin. Computer gamer.

Kevin: the younger cousin. Wears only black. Computer gamer.

Deacon: Guide-Dog Aunt's permanent dog, a guide dog flunkout. He's a large black lab, neutered, and very friendly. He is very calm, and very, very hungry. He will eat anything and/or everything, but is for the most part well-trained about it. He likes even unlikely items such as apple cores and lettuce. He even licked up a spill of balsamic vinegar that went on the floor while I was pouring it down the drain. He is exceptionally patient, and will every now and then sigh about things in that world-weary way that only dogs and teenagers seem to manage.

Trista: The current guide-dog-in-training, a German Shepherd bitch. Very friendly, very energetic, very enthusiastic, and devoted to Deacon. Went into heat and decided to get it on with Deacon by climbing on top of him the wrong way and thrusting her crotch into his face. Pointy-eared and hungry.

Uncle Davy: There's gotta be a Dave in my family. There's just gotta. He's a lot cooler in person that from the stories FatherSir tells about him, which is probably about par for the course when an older brother's talking about his little brother. Rather too much like FatherSir, only with more of GrandfatherSir's Jack of All Trades thing going. He also blew things up when he was a kid. He's currently a real estate agent, and plays with computers.

Mrs. Davy: Uncle Davy's current wife. It looks like he's going to keep this one. She's a doctor, and has banned talking about computer stuff around her.
Matt: Uncle Davy's oldest boy, from his first marriage. Several years older than I am, and engaged to Anna.

Anna: Matt's fiancee wife. Very sweet. My paternal family compares her to Mama.

Chris: Uncle Davy's youngest boy, from his first marriage. A few years older than I am. Evidently has had a series of very messy apartments.

GrandfatherSir: My late paternal grandfather, who died when I was perhaps twelve? fourteen? sixteen? and used to be master of more trades than my father.

Grandma: My only remaining grandparent, the mother of my father and assorted aunts and uncles. She is currently 85 years old as of November. We thought that she had most of her marbles most of the time. It falls out that she has some of her marbles some of the time, which is not boding well for her independence, which she is clinging to with all her stubbornness, which is unabated. One of my family's traits is stubbornness, and it seems to originate from both Grandma and GrandfatherSir's genetic lines. Grandma is still limitedly mobile, with a walker or a cane, but spends most of her day in her comfy-chair. She lives by herself with a few houseplants in SoCal, various distances away from Guide Dog Aunt & Uncle, Aunt & Uncle Fayoumis, Uncle & Mrs. Davy, and Uncle Davy's grown sons Matt & Chris. She has a nice sense of humor, and laughs at my family-style jokes.

Quilting Aunt: My mother's oldest sister. "She who died with the most fabric just died. Race you to the estate sale!" Sings in the church choir. Lives in Pennsylvania.

Quilting Uncle: Married to Quilting Aunt.

Gamer Aunt: My mother's older-by-two-years-exactly sister, who runs a gaming shop called The Red Dragon somewhere in Michigan.

Gamer Uncle: Also runs The Red Dragon.

[livejournal.com profile] marxdarx's Family:
Mom: His mother. Calming down from being an absolute control freak.

her boyfriend: An okay guy, still a hippy from back in the day.

Assorted brothers/sisters: Marx is the oldest.

Scumbucket: Marx's genetic father. The less seen of him, the better. I informed him that he was not welcome to call this house. Ever. Go to hell.

Grandma & Grandpa: Marx's maternal grandparents, very nice people.

Darkside's Family:
Mr. Malfoy, Malfoy Senior: Darkside's father. Can be overly bossy. Likes golf.

Mrs. Malfoy: Darkside's mother. Reminds me of my mother, only with a sense of humor that includes sex.

Assorted Relatives: the variety that live out of town.

Other Families
Mrs. Montague: an evil old hag who is the mother of Echo.

Pestilence: The annoying younger brother of Adam.
