Housekeeping
I guess I'm used to the house more or less keeping itself.
That is to say, I deal with the things I deal with, and Votania deals with the things she deals with, and between us we keep the household ticking over.
When either one of us doesn't do things, though, a shambles starts to develop.
Votania's had a migraine for three days now, going on four, and she hasn't quite been her normal self. It's normal that when she's feeling lousy, some stuff gets left undone, but ... ...still.
She doesn't leave dinner from last night out on the stove by noon the next day very often.
I'm worried.
Anybody got any advice on what to do for migraines?

Migranes
I've taken every migrane remedy there is, and nothing chemical has ever helped. I've been to holistics, crystal healers, herbalists, therapists, everything. Hypnotherapy helped me control a little, but nothing significant. I still hurl at loud noises when I get a migrane.
There is new medication my M.D. friend swears by, but I have yet to take the prescription. I just take a few days to throw up, sob and wish I was dead.
Lavender mint rub on the temples in darkness coupled with gentle neck massage and relaxation, self-hypnosis healing stuff is what I usually resort to.
Is she a regular migrane sufferer or is this recent? dehydration, allergies and hormone fluxuations can trigger a migrane (but once it sets in water, benadryl and sex won't fix it).
Re: Migranes
She did say that she's got a family history of the peskeriffous things.
Apparently caffiene makes her feel somewhat better. I'll recommend the lavender/mint combination, though, and the ice pack -- those were refinements on the hot bath that we hadn't thought of.

(Anonymous) 2001-12-03 09:38 am (UTC)(link)Had them since my skull got hard and my swelling brain couldn't expand. I used to take myself off to a dark room and put ice on my head. I haven't had a barfer headache for a few years but I know there is one out there waiting for me. In the hospital they gave me a drug that killed the headache in 20 minutes but they wouldn't give me another pill for headaches on the outside. Afraid I would get addicted. I guess none of them had ever had MIGRAINE. I have this idea for an invention. A ice cube mold the shape of a football helment so you could cool your whole head at once. Migraines seem to be hereditary. Hardhead maybe? I had one that lasted a month. I hope mommy feels better and doesn't get one again soon.
