My grand purchase for myself for Christmas was a tweaked Clarke penny whistle which has dulcet tones. Not to be mistaken for the shrill tones that issue forth from a tin whistle in the hands of a novice.

And you actually might not object to the low whistle... give it a listen.

swallowtayle has several pennywhistles, and she does a very good job with them.

No -- this is the shrieking produced when one gives any sort of easily-blown instrument into the hands of a very small child.

Do you remember the "Danger: Pennywhistle Use Area" signs that I made after I got those? I was also very pleased that my plastic whistles would be able to make it through airport security undetected.
