I got wibbble's postcard! Yay longhorn cattle! They look so cool! I had storybooks with them in it when I was a kid, and I always liked the look of them.

Little Fayoumis will be taking the postcard to school tomorrow for show & tell, after, of course, a judicious slip of paper was applied with tape over the word "bastard" (not a first-grade safe word). Dude! A postcard from Scotland, from a guy who lives on the same street as a famous author! Nothing cooler in the world!

...well, a few things, but it's high on the list of cool.

Actually, I think now that I don't live in the same street as her - that was just sloppy research on the part of a journalist. Rowling lives in /Merchiston/, which is the same area as me. I think that a journalist (while researching a story for a politician who /does/ live in the same street as me) saw 'Merchiston Crescent', remembered the fuss over Rowling getting planning permission for her big fence around her big house in 'Merchiston', put two and two together, and came up with π.

Oh, and you should've seen the other postcards I sent out. 'Bastard' was the least of the strong language, there. ;o)

I sent firetigr a postcard too. She has an obnoxious nosy flatmate.

I wrote something (I can't remember exactly, I'm sure FirTy will transcribe for me) like 'Note to flatmate: Why the fuck are you reading this?! Stop being so fucking nosy!'

Apparently FirTy was to tell me that Edinburgh (which she mispronounced) looked nice. FirTy's response was 'how did you know it was Edinburgh if you've not been reading my mail?"

My next postcard will include a note saying 'If your name's not [firetigr's RL name], reading this is a federal offence.'

What are the odds that Nosy Flatmate won't spelling flame? (US spelling is 'offense')

The flatmate had been left a note telling her to fuck off. I don't think that a difference of spelling is going to be a bigger issue. ;o)

There's an attitude that goes like so:

That person just said something to me that I find insulting, especially if it's true!
That person spelled something wrong.
If they spelled something wrong, they're an idiot.
I don't have to pay attention to the opinions of idiots.
I don't have to pay attention to that insulting little moron!
