When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for the members of one class of people to dissolve the economic bonds which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the cosmos, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of the All entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the exodus.

Ooo, it's got a lot more things than the last time I read it! (I was 14. I'd fallen for a geek. I came across the dead tree version in the library, checked it out, read it cover to cover, realized that These Were My People, and happily adopted the culture. Then I re-read it a few years ago while up too late for a few evenings.)
