Massive Embarrassments

I'm looking for potential Embarrassing Moments to hang my plot around.

My story? Beatrice and Ben are friends. Their friendship consists entirely of embarrassment for both of them. They meet at a summer program focused on the arts, and wind up going to school together the next year. Their friendship will play out from embarrassing moment to embarrassing moment, and hopefully they'll both gain some much-needed life experience in the process. It's a coming-of-age story, I suppose, only with Dreadful Embarrassment as the gimmick. Comedy, of course, because I don't think I can write about teenagers without having it turn into that, like it or not.

I need things that any teenager would just about die rather than have happen to them. As a start, I have Beatrice stuck in the ladies' room with no TP and an unexpected period (and white jeans) when this boy walks into the wrong bathroom. I also have hairdye mishaps, food fights, biohazardous shoes, and of course being dumped and illicit public drunkenness lined up for them. What else?

I walked up and hugged a distant cousin I barely knew at a funeral because from behind I mistook her for my sister. For some reason, this ranks among my Top Ten Embarrassing Moments.

When I was in school the jocks threw a nerd into the girls locker room. I was mortally embarrassed because I thought I looked bad naked, having virtually no tits. And here's this nerd face up in the floor... Everyone is screaming including him. The gals bombed him with shoes, shampoo bottles, etc whilst he managed to roll face down and crawl out of there. He might have been in there 10 seconds. Seemed like a week.

There's a lot of ground to be mined in the 'mistaken for / mistaken as someone else'.

Depending on the kids - being dropped off at, or picked up by, Mom can be very embarrassing. Many teenage boys find PDA's from Mom to embarrassing. (One of my wife's rules - Never give up the power to embarrass!)

Only now can I relate my most embarassing moment without shrinking from the remembered mortification.

Picture it: Junior high. I'm already an outcast because I'm the fat girl and a band geek. I have a desk with an uneven leg that causes me to rock. The rocking is making me slightly nauseous. Brilliant idea to fold up a piece of paper and shove it under the offending short leg to prevent rocking. Squat down to achieve engineering feat and......... let out the loudest, cheek-vibrating, smelliest fart that has ever issued forth in a quiet creative writing classroom.

I didn't live that one down for a long, long, LONG time.

Oh, dear. That sounds perfectly dreadful for everyone involved, and I'm sure Ben and Beatrice will both hate me for making sure that Ben gets some jocks very, very angry. Or theatre people. Theatre people can be cruel.
