Time of shower exit: roughly 2:30 am. Current time: roughly 5:00 am.

In 2.5 hours, one heavy-duty tampon was soaked through, so that I was aware of the distinct sensation of liquid exiting the vagina in squishy ways upon moving. I'm not sure how large a piece of uterine lining it was that squooshed out upon stumbling into the bathroom, but whatever it was, it squooshed out past said heavy-duty tampon. Said tampon, upon removal, featured a really cool large hunk of uterine lining, one at least two inches long.

Another heavy-duty tampon is in place, and for backup, a nice will-not-betray-stains washcloth folded over into the right shape and size.

(For the reassurance of those who may be worrying, I still haven't been around any unchaperoned sperm in recent years. This is all my own body's general menstrual weirdness.)

I am, happily, largely pain-free during this whole fiasco. There was some discomfort, but ibuprofen kicked its ass easily. My cervix seems to be cooperating, and my uterus is not freaking out about the rate of exit of its former lining. I am feeling v. exhausted (middle of night, lack of sleep) and a little blood-lossy, but it's within acceptable parameters as I'm used to that from giving plasma.

My brother, the Chinese med school senior, assures me that pears deal with that, if you want to do something other than ibuprofen. He sent me a cookbook of Chinese recipes believed to have medicinal properties- if you want, I'll give you the easy one-pot poached pear recipe.

If the heavy bleading becomes a problem, I can recommend tranexamic acid (Cyklokapron and generics). I can get it OTC here (though it's more expensive), but I have problems finding out if it's OTC in the US.

Looks like it's prescription-only here. I'm wearing a washcloth-pad today to be on the safe side, but when I changed out my tampon after four hours, it was half-soaked or less, and there were no major blood clots. It may have just been for that little window there.

I'll definitely see someone if it carries on for over a week at that rate, because that's just too much.
