Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away
After school, and the oddnesses contained therein, I started for home. I saw
votania and
marxdarx standing with Nephew at the bus stop across the street. They hailed me, and I wandered over and joined them in a pilgrimage to Sam's Club, where
marxdarx got his eyes examined (about damn time!) while the rest of us wandered around like slightly raving lunatics (in my case, at least).
Came home, rested for a while as I recovered from the heat, and then went out with just
votania to Walmart for clothes. Marx had done too much walking the other day, and remained at home in general pain.
digitalambience made plans to go out with
soju and a friend of hers to see The Great Clonefest With Yoda and Evil Sauce.
Votania and I made an epic clothes-shopping trip, resulting in Real Good Clothes, underpants, and extra bras for me, a bathing suit and some pajamas for her, and some shorts for the little guy, plus swimming trunks for Marx.
It was a perfect shopping trip up until the point where we went to leave. You see, we are still bus riders, and it becomes more practical to shove things in backpacks rather than lug multiple shopping bags on the bus. Therefore, Votania decided to employ her backpack ... before, unfortunately, we departed through the doors with their scanners.
Somehow, the clerk had neglected to negate the security tag on something, said something being one of the things that she'd just repacked into backpack. There was door drama, involving the unloading of each particular item, and testing it by waving it through the door scanners. Turned out to be the bathing suit, after a long hassling time of having the door chick and a supervisor grouching at each other over the receipt, and matching item in backpack to item on said document. The shorts for nephew were particularly bothersome, as they'd been on sale, and the entries on the receipt were not quite matched with them. Everything was eventually all squared away, and we departed, resolving to pack things into backpack *outside* after this.
Waiting for the bus was some more fun. It was dark by this time, and that's when the weirdos come out.
The whole expedition reminded me of my trips shopping with DC, back in the day. Lots of fun.
Drunk people on the bus. Bleh.
Finally got home. Dinner was orange chicken takeout, with Phantom of the Opera in the background.
Darkside was watching the Star Wars fan film awards when I called him. I immediately let him go.
Marxdarx ran into the evening version of some of the things I'd dealt with in the morning; as Darkside did to me, so did I do to him. Helped, I hope. Different situations, though.
Found that Phantom of the Opera does different things with my mind than it used to. I need to play the whole thing again, and sing along at the top of my lungs.
And that was my day.
