Drinking Game Design

I came up with a diabolical dice-based drinking game while chatting with [livejournal.com profile] onyxrising. You've got a table with 20 choices, and alternates should the actual substance not be on hand. 20 numbered shotglasses filled with the beverage. Group of (drinking) gamers. D20s all around.

...so, what exactly is a critical fail for the #1 shotglass? In fact, the whole table needs filling. The best friend is useless for this, as he doesn't drink. Paging [livejournal.com profile] theferrett...

Any items must be reasonably available, and not harmful if consumed, although may taste disgusting. House rules are encouraged, as tastes and availability of items differ.

Table will be updated as good ideas come in.

  Primary  Backup
20 The nectar of the gods
19 Best booze in the house
 18 Good wine

16 Canned or bottled mixed drink

 13 Wine cooler
 12
 11 Water
10 Non-preferred flavor of Mountain Dew  Zima

 7 A cheap, nasty beer

Can I submit Buckfast for low down the list? (Would you believe it's made by monks?)

[identity profile] lady-angelina.livejournal.com 2008-10-20 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Can't speak for others' tastes, but for me, Zima would be somewhere in the lower half of the list. X_x That aftertaste is GROSS.

[identity profile] theferrett.livejournal.com 2008-10-20 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Any of the Jones sodas should be somewhere around #s 3-5, launching up to #1 if you can eBay your hands on a copy of the Mashed Potatoes and Butter from three years ago. Ye Gods, that was awful.

Also, cold Schav (http://www.aviglatt.com/Product.asp?intProdID=3714&source=googleps) surely has a place on there.

Jagermeister, though some may like it, should also be on the list.

[identity profile] theferrett.livejournal.com 2008-10-20 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! And a shot of Listerine Classic surely belongs on there.

Gini suggests Popov vodka, straight.

[identity profile] lady-angelina.livejournal.com 2008-10-20 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Here are three (non-alcoholic) drinks I love but which people usually think are gross: V8 juice, cold coffee, and Gatorade. Yes, I'm weird. ^^;;;;

Room temperature, natch.

It's maybe a little more teenage alcoholic than down-and-out, but, yeah, probably about there.

So once a number has been rolled, what happens if someone else rolls it as well? Do you refill the shotglass, or do they reroll?

I would put fruit lambic on the list toward the top, but that might be just me. I'm very fond of both peach and raspberry.

Cold salt water might belong at the bottom of that list, especially saltwater with baking soda in it. Great for your electrolytes, probably horribly disgusting to take a shot of.

There is a preferred flavour of Mountain Dew?!

[identity profile] raranax.livejournal.com 2008-10-20 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Maple syrup.

A Cement-mixer, Jaeger, or Pyrat Rum. All are pretty rank. On the good side; Tattoo, Damiana, Absinthe, Absolut Pixie.

Oh my god, you know what was awful? That Christmas Cocoa flavor from last year. I threw up after half a bottle of that.

Irn Bru could be the back-up for 'preferred flavor of Mountain Dew'?

'Any flavor of Fanta' should, I feel, be just below the non-preferred Dew.

Coke/Pepsi should be just above water, IMHO.

Oh, and 'Coffee from McDonalds or Burger King' could be the backup for "Stale, cold, slightly burned expresso".

And of course, backup for 'Nectar of the gods' is 'a proper cuppa' (tea, that is).

If "a cheap, nasty beer" is on the list, shouldn't "a good beer" also be on the list somewhere? Perhaps as #9 or #12?

A couple other dice-related drinking games of which I'm familiar:

* Line up 6 shot glasses. #1, #3 and #5 contain vodka. #2, #4 and #6 contain water (I'd probably use juice instead). Roll 1d6, and down the contents of the appropriate glass. Here's the trick: you need to refill it with the OPPOSITE of whatever was in it before. If it had juice, fill with vodka, and vice versa.

* Find six bottles of stuff that won't be too nasty together - liquors or mixers, it's all good. Number the bottles from 1 to 6. Roll 3d6 (or more if everyone agrees). Add 1.5 ounces of the corresponding bottle for each die result to a rocks glass, and drink. Woe to someone who rolls triples and has to drink straight sour mix! *bleah*

For the Diabolical sludge (alchohol version0: http://www.vanityfair.com/online/style/2008/09/the-economic-boost.htm

I just can't imagine those flavors combining in any pleasing way at. all.

Have you ever heard of Purple Death?

I actually put in on a wine list for a ficticious restaurant on a project back when I was doing the restaurant management program.
