Other than that, people don't honk on the freeway. however, on surface streets, people will sometimes honk at you:
* If you don't start moving fast enough at a light that just turned green (for some people, fast enough means 'you are not gone by the time it is green') * If you stop for the red light, preventing them from running it * If you need to make a turn in a lane that can be used for turning and also going straight * If they see a pedestrian
