Darkside in the morning

Had breakfast with Darkside. Went to class. The class devolved into a discussion of old cartoons, while searching for some Red Hat patches.

The next hour of class, and the half-hour after that, were given over to a presentation by the FBI about hacking. Darkside's class was assigned to that too; we sat together, and saved a spot for Dawn, whose class was also attending.

The FBI evidently don't have much of a sense of humor. I got the impression of a personality type that is entirely alien to mine, too conservative and closed and not at all my idea of fun. Of course, since I identify more with the hacker (and so, I felt, did a good quarter of the room) this is not surprising.

I wrote notes in the Elder Futhark to Darkside before the presentation got going; he translated. If I keep that up, he'll learn it very fast. He's already catching on; I started him on a very simple line containing his name and a nickname of his; he translated it beautifully. We got into more complex subjects by the time the presentation started.

We ate lunch together and arm-wrestled and thumb-wrestled. He's got white hair in his mustache.

Benes cancelled Java today, so I was technically done for the morning when the FBI lecture let out. Darkside asked me why I was still hanging around, then. To hang out with him, of course. I tried nerve-pinching his shoulder. This time it made his arm start to go numb. I'm improving. He had Senior Project presentations to attend at noon; I decided to go home. Shrimpy invited me to attend the presentations, as it was Mr. Wright's class, and Mr. Wright wouldn't mind; I declined, giggling.

Darkside makes me blush, now. He seems happy that I'm happy.
