LOL. Um. Sorry you've had to go through all that? Or some of that? (Some doesn't sound like things to be sorry for.)
Must not swear at the client who has announced his intention to make .pdf files the entirety of his website. (His rationale? Because they will display the page the exact way you intend the visitor to view it.)
Intention? I've filled this order. (Not because they want the visitors to see the PDFs; they wanted printable files to hand into a court. I think.) Much wrangling over specs was involved, with a hilarious bucket brigade of instructions passing through the heads of multiple people who had no idea that websites display differently on different browsers, and that there is no magic "make identical PDF" button on any machine.
If, at any point in a discussion about doc conversion, you have to define the terms "portrait" and "landscape" to a customer, and said explanation takes longer than 8 seconds, the project isn't worth taking.
Customer is not allowed to send in screenshots by pasting them in a Word file.
You got customers who know how to take screenshots?
Potential Other Thing: Should not hand internal FTP login/password to "very trusted" client for "important project" "just this once" because the other file-exchange site takes too long to set up an account.
