Some of the little hairs on my hand actually do sparkle in the light. It's sort of hilarious.

The genetics one, I mostly thought the picture was hilarious; the text there is all import from the source, being as it was a share from google reader. And even as a layman, I know that sometimes you have a cross between, sometimes you have the thing from the one, sometimes you have the thing from the other, and sometimes you have something that emerges from the depths of further-up-the-genetic-ladder-but-wasn't-expressed-in-the-parent.

To that end, Grandma warned Mama and Dad that there was red hair in the family, so if either Tay-Tay or I came out with red hair (well, this was pre-me, so it was just me at that point) that Mama should not be surprised and Dad should know that we'd the genetic right to it through him. (Though both of us came out with darkest-brown hair, not quite Dad's pitch-black. Neither of us is significantly grey yet, though, so I can live without pure black hair. Though looking like a daughter of the Rowan might be fun.)

Oh, yes, as an at-a-glance joke it works very well, and there are lots of widely-known traits that are inherited like that. I'm just ideally placed to overthink the joke >_>

I have one parent with black hair, one with medium brown, and I have very dark brown hair. And I would love it if all the emerging grey strands would just congregate into one spot :)
