Barney (character type: physically harmless, emotionally manipulative fuck 'em and leave 'em, womanizing bastard, who's inexplicably popular because NPH) has been dating a woman who has been basically the opposite of his usual "type". It turns out to have been the last play in his playbook, leading up to a proposal. To Robin. Who is not the woman he has been dating (in fact, his erstwhile girlfriend is Robin's worst enemy).
The season started out at Barney's wedding to Robin, so the relationship is not a surprise, but we've been waiting to see how it happened.
I own an episode of HIMYM. "Girls vs Suits", which builds up to a giant Broadway-style musical number about how suits are the most important thing in the world. The show in general has never done anything for me. (Though I will say that Cobie Smulders makes a really hot wingman in a suit.)
I only saw the second half, so reading the first half summary on Wikipedia kind of horrified me, tbh. I am having ALL THE CONFLICTING FEELS, because BARNEY. ROBIN.
(Then Hyoun and I had fun speculating about how "Ted's kids" are actually Marshall and Lily's, and basically wacky Uncle Ted has kept them locked up for the last eight years/three days telling them this story, and they're just like, "Trainwreck. Can't stop watching.")
Yeah, me and meaningrequired were also conflicted, because the level of manipulation (from Barney) and the level of awful relationship advice (from Ted) and Robin's appalling behaviour (crashing your ex's proposal? Really?) were enough to give both of us cold shivers, but on the other hand, it's all so cartoony that it almost got away with it.
I can't help feel it's a shame that we haven't seen Ted learn more about relationships. He's spent so long on his journey, I was hoping to see him turn into decent relationship material by the time he actually met the mother...
We've also been hearing his blowhard narration since day 1 of the show, and he doesn't seem like he's overly critical or even overly aware of what a douchebag he was.

There are still more shoes waiting to drop.
