Friday:

Had a lovely lunch with the dude from the LBGTQ* club, one of our fellow admins, and Mr. Zune. Mr. Zune got to hear the expanded version of my latest rant about all of the ways that not!Facebook falls short of the email that its fanboys so desperately yearn for it to replace. The non-expanded version was a righteous wall-o'-text that I shared in response to the latest and greatest moaning solicitation for "but whyyyy do people hate it so much?!" from one of the uncritical fanboys.

I added "automate when practical" to the place where we're supposed to list our values at work, joining "security by obscurity is not secure" and "jellybeans are the great equalizer".




Now I need to develop the character that goes with this statement: "I don't need to know what your genitals are unless I'm going to punch you in them."

So they posted a request for feedback on not!Facebook itself? Don't they know that those of us who hate it the most will never see that?

I'm pretty sure that the uncritical fanboy is not actually working on the product, so it was just fanboy hand-wringing, but I could be wrong. (That said, people from the product then showed up in comments paying attention.)
