Patreon Fuckup!

Apparently something fell over at Patreon in a way that many people's banks have noticed.

I got a text from my bank asking me to confirm whether I had intended to spend money at Patreon, and I know various people doing their stuff through Patreon have noticed that a whole bunch of their patrons simultaneously and unexpectedly didn't pay/didn't have payments go through.

If you're subscribed to anyone through there, probably best to go check, and talk to your bank if it looks like something went wrong?

Ooh, thanks for the info. I got one of those flags last week and have been meaning to deal with it but didn't know any of this.

One of the people I support says that he has heard that Patreon moved locations from California to Dublin, Ireland so a bunch of US banks were flagging the foreign transactions. Now that Patreon is charging on start of subscription day (for at least some), I find it harder to figure out if some have just haven't been charged yet. I already switched credit cards a few months ago when the long-running one suddenly freaked out, so it looks like the replacement's security features aren't as touchy...so far.

My account page on Patreon says my monthly charge was completed successfully, and my credit card company agrees, but I didn't get the usual confirmation email.

And yup, some of mine failed. Retrying has so far done merry fuckin' nothin'.
