We are lucky enough to have been able to afford a pretty robust heat pump a while ago, so we got through last summer's "heat dome" and this summer so far. When kiddo got her house, I insisted on bringing one of our retired portable air conditioners and stashing it in her garage, despite her saying that she wouldn't need it and she didn't think the HOA would like looking at the window outlet for it. The past few days were bad enough that she asked yesterday what she'd need to do to set it up.
