Darkside is a slim young man 23 years old, with sun-brightened dark blond hair that reaches down to his shoulders. His hairline is clearly receding; his hair curls gently and has to be shoved behind his ears.

Darkside's face is thin and in bad need of shaving. He shaves perhaps once a month, occasionally every two weeks, or for special occasions or class presentations. Arizona has made skin that would otherwise be pale a reddish tan, perhaps not his most flattering skin color. His glasses are oval, silver-rimmed, perched on a thin anime-nose, covering blue eyes. His expression is most often sober when interacting with the general public; full of mischief and bad puns when interacting with a friend.

I am slightly shorter than Darkside. I am five feet six; he is five feet seven. He still feels short to me, as I'm accustomed to dating taller men, though I claim to prefer men my own height.

Darkside wears his work uniform to school three days out of the week. He works in a kitchen, so he's wearing thin white pants and a white shirt open over a white sleeveless undershirt. The other two days, he most often wears jeans and a t-shirt (usually the same two each week), but he will occasionally dress in a far more spiffy manner.

I suspect Darkside of having started working out again, as he's ceasing to look quite so much like the wimp programmer he used to appear to be, and is starting to get some quite respectable muscle on arms and shoulders. He used to do martial arts, but he doesn't have time, now.

Darkside's nickname comes from his anime addiction. Evidently Darkside Blues is one of his favorite tapes. He mentioned this to me after I teased him about his nickname being derived from one of his favorite shirts, a Darth Vader shirt bearing the caption "The Dark Side". He and I met at school through our mutual friend votania, and became friends quickly, surviving the general ups and downs of college romance and a doomed love triangle.
