It's almost that time...

...where Nephew is old enough to do e-mail by himself.

In the interests of anti-spam and privacy, I have poked nose into some of the options available with Yahoo (my personal favorite for free mail) and will be setting filters for each e-mail address allowed to send stuff to him, so he should only actually be getting to see messages from Grandma, Auntie Azz, and Mommy. All else will be filtered to the trash.

All that remains, really, is getting the go-ahead from Mommy.

Nephew's learning his letters on the keyboard. It's so sweet...

You're due a breakdown or two, dear. And he behaved beautifully; it's not as if you abandoned me with him to go out drinking with the Viking while he was puking and throwing tantrums all at once. He got dinner, had dessert (the current favorite is ice cream with gummy bears) and watched the Demented Cartoon Movie after I determined that all our videos were far too long to be watched before bedtime. After the movie was over, he went right to bed with absolutely no fuss. I think the lettuce thing was a Salad Whammy on my part. He did get a gummy bear appetizer first, though...

I got the idea when watching him play that Bear In The Big Blue House letter game online; you send letters to Bear, and Bear writes back. He's getting very good at typing his own name there. It might encourage him to start reading more if he was getting new things to read from Grandma. I also poked nose into my AIM privacy settings as well, and yes, it's very easy to restrict it to accepting only messages from those on your friends list, which we'd build for him.
