Real.

My new area of interest is internet security. Kurt recommends first, a firewall. Hmm. How to re-arrange... ?

Adam, do you have Nephew's computer put together yet?

Computer

Yes and no. Yes, I have the cuomputer box sorta done. No, I don't have the rest of it(input/output devices + monitor) at my place. Those things are still at your place. It does not have USB on the board, but you can buy a PCI card to give it two USB ports. I do not know what kind of arrangement you are looking for, but I am sure that I can be some help no matter what you do. ^_^

What sort of firewall are you looking at?

hmm....I prefer TPF(tiny personal firewall) myself....ver 2.0.15 is free, I can get you a copy if you want.

It allows what you tell it to, pops up when something trys to access the net or access your PC from the net, I can even tell when an XP box just boots up anywhere on my network.

pair that with a NAT box and you have what would be a secure enough system, short of a openBSD or IPCop firewall

Yup...you should be able to find it with google. The newer version 3 is not free, but the 2.0.15 is

IPCop is good...but it requires a seperate PC with 2 NICs and a good working knowledge of linux and the proper configuration of firewalls(this is harder than it sounds, I've known ubergeeks that have spent several days working on setting up one)
