Breast Cancer
...has never really been high on my list of things to worry about. But I suppose, being female, I should be thinking about it, especially when I don't have someone who makes sure there are no unusual lumps in my breasts that aren't normally there.
For whatever reason, Darkside's mother and Shawn's mother seem to be melding together in my mind. I'm not sure what kind of a sign this is. Shawn's mother, the Sainted Lady Jessica, is an excellently sweet lady, sweeter than my elementary school friend Galadriel, sweeter than Galadriel's mother, making up for all of her son's shortcomings by her very existance. (For those who know the full list of That Idiot Shawn's shortcomings: yes, all of them.) I seem to remember a conversation with either Darkside or Shawn where there was the mention of mammograms, and the mother in the background made a clearly audible comment about the painful squishing involved. Since the voice was not the Sainted Lady Jessica's, it must have been Darkside's mother...

Don't you check them yourself? Us women are supposed to do a regular self-exam and get used to how our breasts look and feel at various times of the month so we can spot any changes swiftly... I just take vague note of what's what when I shower each day :)
