Network vs. Red Hat vs. 'Ni: Bunny, puppy.

I seem to have the eth0 installed and active. The lights on the switch tell me that everything's plugged in. So why, in the name of holy hand grenades, are things not working?

I must have attempted to install Red Hat onto Virtual PC (a make-believe Pentium box that runs on a Mac) a dozen times, all the way to the create-a-boot-diskette stage about a dozen times before the Virtual PC foax came out with a that-version-won't-work-with-this-version blurb.

So I still remember all the installation messages talking about this bit or the other of Star Office, and feeling envious.
