If you go to the windows directory it will "protect" itself.

It will show an empty screen with something about how microsoft recommends that you don't edit the files.

There should be a thing that says click here to show the files.

This is why I don't normally do tech support over the phone or online unless I know that the person at the other end is at least half-competent.
