I've dreamt about a phoenix a couple times recently. I've always identified with the phoenix.... Clarior e flammis "Brighter, from the flame" is my credo. Interestingly enough, the phoenix is in flight and bursts into flames and eclipses the sun with his momentary brilliance.
I was given a phoenix pendant on my last birthday by a pagan friend of mine and I've been using it to practice self hypnosis and strenthen my memories after lucid dreaming.
I don't think this dream was about you (unless there is something I'm missing) but I was just wondering what symbology was attributed with the phoenix that you knew of? Other than the mythos, I am ignorant of any other meaning.
Doesn't sound related to me at all, despite the coincidence of phoenix-bird/Phoenix-city. I know very little about them.
Though, if you're identifying with them, it does sound a lot as if you've always been a person to go through mildly self-induced catastrophes and then emerge reborn and improved.
