Found a Canadian quarter in the laundry quarters a few days ago.

Interestingly enough, many Alaskan businesses will take Canadian coins at face value. I was surprised to hear that Lower 48 businesses don't.

Well, really, you don't quite know. I ended up with a Canadian penny at a movie theater in Manassas and was able to pass it off readily enough.

In Alaska, it's not passing it off, it's just another coin...

I'm slowly growing quite a collection of Canadian change, from random businesses passing them off on me, and no one being willing to take them.

Places won't take them at face value 'cause of the exchange rate. I understand they are worth less.

Alaska is a lot more relaxed about exchange rates.
