Having the bottoms of my feet fall off. Nope, not leprosy: frostbite.

Running on the packed-snow road in bare feet is a Really Bad Idea. I couldn't even use alcohol as an excuse. I was trying to get DC's pager back to her, since she'd been tripping out all night when she kept dropping it places...

...bad idea. Much pain ensued. Shawn refused to let me hold onto his arm, because it would be too much like being a couple; Evil Mick let me hold onto him; endorphins happily did some of their thing and made it into Just Plain Hurting from the former Excruciating Agony.

Wound up having the bottoms of my feet blister and fall off. My feet are still a little sensitive to extreme heat or cold...

Egads. How long were you in the snow? I go barefoot in the snow all the time, and I've never had anything like that happen.

I'd say a good five minutes running on hard-packed icy snow. I wasn't, at that point, accustomed to going barefoot in the snow at all.

Damn! Can't imagine not letting you hold onto me if you need to. What's wrong with that guy? Even if he's not interested in you, it's just wrong not to help someone in pain if you can. (Even if they hurt themselves being , er, less than wise.)

If you're at all familiar with Lois McMaster Bujold's writing, Shawn could have been used as the model for That Ass Tien. (Amusingly, when he borrowed the books from me, he did not seem to see the comparison...)

He's a really interesting guy when he's not being a self-centered ass.
