Some of them were still there when midnight struck.

Oh. You Know, I was one of the ones still there when the end came. I can see the wave coming up over the land, over me, and trembling, for a faint instant, far over my head, then crashing down -- blackness.

I have often dreamed of it, and only lately have I been told that it was not Just A Dream.

I don't see very far ahead of myself, in my own life. I saw Little Fayoumis at sixteen or so, though...

I've been living every day as though it were my last for, what, ten years now?

I've always known I would not live to grow old. I don't know when, but I have accepted it.

I have a lot more writing in me. I have to see Little Fayoumis grown, now.

And I have responsibilities to Darkside.

That last is the one binding me here most tightly.
