LotR: The Fellowship of the Ring PS2 game

The Dark Rider has caught you! The One Ring has been taken and returned to it's creator Sauron! You're quest has failed!

Don't you morons know how to run a grammar check?

Perhaps, but it's no excuse. :)

They're justifying their position? I'm a bit confused. "We're ignorant, but it's okay, since the prevailing technology says so." Nice.

Snicker... additionally, you could use something like "[Game character name] would have wanted things nice and neat. After all, you lose money by looking unprofessional in your use of English, and [character name] wants to adventure as much as possible."

QA job in Game Design?

[identity profile] dragontdc.livejournal.com 2003-03-25 08:52 am (UTC)(link)
Who, where? I'm QA team leader at a fortune 500 insurance company's marketing, ratings, and proposals software division. Damn deadly boring stuff. I'm also the Sr. Tech Writer, with 8 years of experience and am a member of the Society for Technical Communications and the IEEE Professional Communication Society. If you're serious, what's it pay and do I have to relocate? (I just bought a house here, lots of friends locally.)

Hmmm - I'm split here on what to tell you. On the one hand, there are times when being a Qa tester\Lead Tester for a Game Publishing company are cool, but to be honest, most of the time it sucks. California is the best place to be, however, the company I work for is in Mass. A few misconceptions to clear up (which, being a Qa professional yourself, is most likely preaching to the choir):

1) Yes, they are games. But they are not done, they don't work right, and serve to frustrate you more than please you.
2) 70% of the job is writing
3) Prepare to never, ever have a personal life (constant 70+ hour weeks are the norm)
4) It pays shit (starting out is usually around 10 - 12 an hour as a Temp, with no benefits)
5) Tedious is a word that comes up often.

I could go on, but you get the gist. If you're still interested, e-mail me and I'll get you the contact info for Hr.

Peace

Thanks, but no thanks. The broken code I can handle, the writing I can handle, but the rest sucketh mightily. I've done my stint at the 10-12/hr level. Not going back.

Thanks anyway.
