So long as all involved are cool with it being strictly casual, I don't think there's a problem. I'm not in much of a position to speak, though; I've had very little casual sex (read, not with an SO) in my lifetime, all told, and I have a marked tendency to get attached. :) I'm working on both deficiencies. :)
You're right, it does depend on the people. Generally thou, I've found it eventually blows up in your face....somewhere along the way, that line between casual and involved tends to get blurred, especially when you're having un-inhibited free (as in free-spirited) relations. But, I'm a hopeless romantic to begin with :)
I had a sexual relationship going on where I was Told that as long as we kept it casual, we would be fine, but if we got emotionally entangled, we would be truly fucked.
Never engaged in casual sex. Is there such a thing? In my experience, any kind of sex has some emotional ramification on one or more of the parties involved.

But that's for typical people, not you :)
