HTML or not?

And why do you choose to view your comments like that? Discuss in comments.

I prefer to get the full HTML because I find it easy to reply from the email that way. I also associate a lot of my lj friends not by their username, but by their usericons.

Html is just eaiser to read

and easier to respond to. If I didn't get notification, I'd never know I had comments and since I use LJ to communicate with a friend, this is important so we can carry on an actual dialogue at times.

Nods... the reply button over e-mail is of much happiness.

I just alternate between mail programs that can handle html and cannot. It's easier just to forgo the pretty pictures. :)

I view comments as HTML since I like to be able to reply from the email client (this doesn't seem to work on my web-email interface, unfortunately, but it works from Outlook Express at home. Yes, I use Outlook Express. This probably downgrades me a point; I've just never *bothered* to replace it, and I use my email system as an archive of sorts at home.)

text only

I read my e-mail from Pine a lot of the time anyways, and pine will interpret the URLS sans <A> tag if I want to look at the comments under Lynx.

As for my geekiness, I'm pretty damn geeky (an 8, and when I get my Ph.D, I'll vote 9). I don't rate a 10, though. :)

...cause that's the way it came, and I'm a lazy fuck. :) And I've always used web-based email, so it's easy.

I abhor HTML formatted email.

[identity profile] amberfox.livejournal.com 2003-04-16 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I use Outlook Express to manage my Hotmail, because I subscribe to too many fucking mailing lists to put them all in one, and I refuse to give them up just because I don't have POP mail anymore. Thus, 9 Hotmail accounts.

How could we compare to Linus? If that is what 10 is, then for a mortal to specify it as their abilities would be hubris beyond all but GW Bush and all his vile works.

OB on topic: Text only as I use pine and lynx...

[identity profile] n3m3sis42.livejournal.com 2003-04-17 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
I do too, and I feel bad aboout it. :)

I really wanted to say I was Linus Torvalds, just because it would be fun to say, but
I'm not at that level of geekiness just yet. :)

[identity profile] amberfox.livejournal.com 2003-04-17 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
Yup. I suspect it might even be enough to justify OE. <G>

html formatted email's weakness lies in size and misuse due to browser differences.
I have no problems, so I enjoy usericons and the lot.

I gave a 10, because although probably not that knowledgeable, I am some d4amn3d 1337 and hella geeky
