Made it abundantly clear to Darkside that I care for him a great deal. Have figured out how to say those three dangerous words without saying them. Even when I just tell him that he knows what I am not saying, it still rings loudly.

It is not something deniable. It is a truth. You can't say "No, thank you," to it. He doesn't try.

I admire the courage you show in resisting the urges to tie him up and lock him in a basement until he agrees to have a mate-type relationship with you (as would have been the fate for my beloved, if he were living on this side of the continent). I also admire your strength, to want to be around him however much it might hurt, and not sink into a long depression. Your friends, too, for not letting you.

As he's as stubborn as I am, that wouldn't work. He'd just get mad.

And it hurts more to be without him.

Tried the depression thing before. Bad move. That was another guy. Darkside won't let me get depressed. He hammers inside my head until I'm near-OK, then hammers on the outside of my head until I giggle.
