It's in the fucking Bible:

"Stupid" (or "you fool") is a bad word. Matthew 5.22, hee.

That, there, is funny. ...When a family, supposedly Christian, calls a person "stupid"... Ghaa.

It's funny in the Martian sense, I suppose.

Jesus also says:

In case of emergency, put on your own oxygen mask before helping your child or someone else. (Matthew 7:5).

You'll notice that the phrase "Who hath ears to hear, let him hear" marks a parable. Even when He says he isn't.

"C'mon, man, be straight with us!" ...but He never is, only for those who have the Ears.

And he was just the one.

Jesus Supports LIFO

(matthew 20:16)

Yes, too much fun. Far too much fun. I will of course at some point be boiling down the wisdoms I've learned this far in life, and writing a book. One of my filters is seeing the notes I'm making.

I am the Door...

...Having contacted the man earlier, and spoken with him, and told him that I should be the Door did he wish to go on his way, I spoke with him again last night.

I was the Door, and though it stretched me upwards uncomfortably, I was quite all right afterwards, with the loving earthy hand there next to me to catch and ground myself, though I doubt I made contact hand to hand...

Tantrums

We've been getting a lot more in the way of blowups from Nephew. Not sure what's up. Time for some industrial-strength ignoring.

(Even one screaming crying hitting the wall tantrum in two weeks is a LOT.)

Books

Did I mention that I love my parents?

For my sanity's sake, I ordered:

A Certain Slant of Light, Margaret Wander Bonnano
The Door Into Sunset, Diane Duane
A Wizard Alone, Diane Duane
Liber Kaos
Liber Null & Psychonaut
Prime Chaos: Adventures in Chaos Magic

from Amazon.

They're doing this cute thing called "Share the Love", where friends can get discounts on the same items I buy, if they buy them within one week of me buying them, or something along those lines, if I enter their email addresses at the prompt to send them the promotional coupon for those things. I thought [livejournal.com profile] shadesong and [livejournal.com profile] iroshi would be interested. Wasn't sure who else would be, so didn't enter anyone else's addresses. (Not to worry: they say they won't spam.) If anyone wants to be included in future distributions of love-share, drop a comment...

Pets

[livejournal.com profile] votania and I both like snakes.
Darkside doesn't like reptiles, as they're the only creatures he knows of more cold-blooded than he is. (He's so very warm... there are reasons I call him Sunshine.)
Neither Votania nor I like dogs.

Sluggy Freelance?

I've never done this before, so I don't know if it works, but...

[livejournal.com profile] sluggycomic seems to be a syndicated feed of Sluggy Freelance... I hope.

TV

[livejournal.com profile] marxdarx is working on setting up the entertainment system so that the TV in my room can echo what's on the TV out in the living room. Amazingly, some of the broadcast channels are coming through on the dinky TV. It hasn't picked up those since [livejournal.com profile] votania's had the thing.

When all is set up properly, I will have in my room a system that can choose to either pick up what's on the living room TV, or recieve from the local VCR. This could be most useful the next time there's a crowd, and not enough living room seats. It'll also be useful for watching grown-up movies...
