yeah, that couch reminds me of a teacher I had in high school that was to much into the funky liesure suit thing, and he was colorblind. Standing joke was to see him come down the hall and tell everyone quick look at the floor before your eyes start bleeding! LOL
Egyptian Fayoumis Hen, how the heck did you get ahold of such a creature? I've never heard of them.
Murray McMurray Hatchery. My parents raised chickens for a while, and I got to look through the catalog and pick out two that I wanted. I got Calico and Aurora, who we decided had to be sisters.
oh dear god..now I'm going to be telling the husband, I want a pet chicken! LOL...wouldn't work with all the dogs and cats, unless we kept him outside, but it gets to cold here for that unless we made him a heated shelter.
Some of those chickens are really cool! Did they lay eggs? Did the eggs taste any different? am I nosy or what..
Calico and Aurora both laid eggs, Calico more than Aurora. (We had a later crowd of the Fayoumi, but they were more wild and less pet.) The eggs tasted the same as the eggs from any free-range chicken (better than store eggs).
Calico used to lay eggs in my hand. She was a very tame lady. It wasn't exactly voluntary at that point: we'd see her in the "I am laying an egg NOW" stance, and we'd pick her up and I'd hold my hand under her butt to catch the egg when it came out. She didn't get squirmy about it, though, and appreciated the attention and petting and treats. Mama has photos of me catching an egg. There's one delightful shot of it emerging from her, half-in and half-out, another one with me holding it, and her rear end, and then me holding her with her beak towards the camera, this time, and proudly displaying the egg.
damn. The husband just vetoed digging a big fenced in pond in the back yard and building a heated shelter so that I could order black neck swans. Their only $3000 a pair!!!!!!
LOL.

The couch was my father's, legacy of his bachelor days. Hideous, isn't it?
