Is there such a thing as an intellectual slut?
I speak of someone who has an active intelligent mind, but someone who constantly seeks out new ideas, new experiences, absorbs that idea or philosophy thoroughly, and then moves on to the next?
After a while, this person's mind would get all stretched-out and loose, positively dripping with the juices of all the ideas that had expanded it before ...
...if only so many philosophies did not suffer from disease, this person's mind, their intellect, their conversation would sound so attractive...
...and is there an analogue of a venereal disease for the mind? Some disease of the psyche that you must be extraordinarily intimate with the person in order to contract? Some contagious philosophy that only those who have been "dicked in the nob" will know...?

Not quite...
To believe in the total absense of any evidence, perhaps even ignoring evidence to the contrary... is the ultimate act of ignorance.
2. Knowledge gained with the intent to start with a minimum of assumptions (little or no faith) doesnt seem to promote promiscuity: a brief look at what is currently understood of biology seems to curb most peoples sexual appetites. No one wants to get sick, or die, or even be really itchy... abstinence and/or mutual monogamy both serve this selfish and faithless purpose quite well when contrasted with, say, a college orgy.
3. Yes, the typical Xtian has most of the problems a prechy member of an alternative religion will talk about, however, one needs look no further than just about anybodys version of history to see that when other religions were in charge, they didnt do such a hot job of running things in an open minded, free spirited manner either. Do you really believe your dogma would be any different once 85% of a population had been shoehorned into it?

Here's the other half of the discussion.
