Somehow, the subject of "Really Bad Pickup Lines" got mentioned. I think it was something he said that reminded me of that awful one. So I snickered, he asked, and I revealed the pickup line: "Hey, nice shoes, wanna fuck?"

I made it clear where the quoted material began and ended.

We discussed how giving this line to Shawn might have meant him getting slapped. I discussed how he might have bungled it (Hey, nice fuck, wanna shoes?) and the circumstances under which I'd heard it (14, in class, no teacher, pickup line debate)

That's an old Goth pickup line. "Nice boots. Wanna fuck?"

Of course, I'm not brave enough to randomly use that line. What I will say, though, when I see a nice pair on a pretty girl, is "Nice boots. Dot. Dot. Dot." I have yet, alas, to receive a response, good or bad.

Maybe I should say that to the girl at IHOP, but she looks kinda young. How do you tell an emo kid from a goth, anyway?

Um... y'know, I was going to reply, "Whether they knife you or break out sobbing when you use a bad pickup line on them," but on reflection, that's not so.

S'pose the emo kid would break out sobbing before you used the pickup line?

Or maybe the goth kid would knife/cry if you called him/her an emo, and visa/versa.
