Fandom Question: Harry Potter
Where did "theirloveisso..." originate?
Am having the idea that it started out as "theirloveissopure", somewhere, and spread, but bugger me if I know where/who, and which pairing...
Anyone?

I think "theirloveissopure" started out in popslash, actually. At least, that's the first place I remember seeing it.

Do you know what pairing it was about?

Hmmmm. I *want* to say Joey and Lance...?

I think. I've tried to wipe my memory banks of anything having to do with O-Town, but I've only been partially successful.

*blink* I would almost be willing to *swear* I was seeing it in the pre-LOTR days... wow, strange how your memory plays tricks. Perhaps we should try tracking down the earliest reference anyone can find?

I'm glad you think so, given how this entry has exploded with comments. I love this stuff too. *grins*

So, I think the phrase started in the crossover NSYNC/BSB popslash fandom, mutated into the -sopure version with Silvia and O-Town, and then spread like FIYAH! =)

So. Off to ask.

Theirloveisso... definitely predates LOTRiPS, as one of the first people to write in that fandom. The phrase started back in Popslash, with the JoLa people, and was quickly adopted and applied to other pairings as needed - I can't remember if it was Silvia who coined it, or rather Em who was the JoLa queen at the time.
I think pinpointing the actual origins of the phrase might be impossible, but I am 99% certain it's a Popslash thing. And, since there are SO many ex-popslashers in the HP fandom, it's not surprising at all that it got carried over.
Hope that helps!

Would it be the most unattractive thing in the world if I did the dance of I Was Right?
*does the dance anyway*

FWIW. :)

Aha! Well, that settles it, ne?
I honestly thought it predated O-Town. Shows how much I know. Perhaps I was merely thinking wistfully of a world without Ugly Rats In Love.
(And you know, the sad thing is that I could have just picked up the phone and called Silvia and ASKED her, "Yo, where'd 'theirloveisso' come from?" but no, because I suck.)
:-D
Re:
Meanwhile, I'm still trying to figure out if I was actually the one who coined the acronym "RPS" or not ...

When did the whole O-Town slash stuff happen? Because I had just got to Orlando when the theirloveisso... thing was really in full-force, and that was early-2001, but I could sweat I'd heard it before that. *hits head*
And I wouldn't be surprised if you were the one responsible for RPS. ;-) You deviant personality, you!
Re:
I AM NOT A DEVIANT!
Oh, and O-Town? No clue, as I didn't get into popslash until late (like, late December) 2000, early 2001.

I love the acronymns, man. Acronymns MAKE the fandom. Not to mention the great names people come up with for pairings. Current favoure: Snape/Tonks = Snonks.
You arrrrre a deviant. Deeeeeeeeviously so.
You got into Popslash just after I did, then, and the O-Town stuff was going on in mid-2001. My friends list was so scary.
