Fandom Question: Harry Potter

Where did "theirloveisso..." originate?

Am having the idea that it started out as "theirloveissopure", somewhere, and spread, but bugger me if I know where/who, and which pairing...

Anyone?

Actually, it was coined in LotRPS - it came from making fun of the people who truly truly believe that Dominic Monaghan and Elijah Wood are lovers. the "Purity" of their love is a huge point for them.

*blink* I would almost be willing to *swear* I was seeing it in the pre-LOTR days... wow, strange how your memory plays tricks. Perhaps we should try tracking down the earliest reference anyone can find?

I'm glad you think so, given how this entry has exploded with comments. I love this stuff too. *grins*

I would like to second that Silvia did start it with those rats from Otown.

No, I'm sorry, theirloveisso... predates LotRPS.

I've sent off a minion to Datalounge Anonymous to track it down - let's see if we can. I'm perfectly willing to believe it predates LotRPS, but I remember the huge wank about how Dominic and Elijah's love is "so pure", which was a real post, and how that immediately became theirloveissopure.

LOL - I'm scrolling Silvia's calendar even as we speak (type?).

RESEARCH UBER ALLES! *g*

LOL! Ah, how we research-loving people show our colors. "Must... find... truth... about... meaningless... factoid..."

I don't know if it's the first use but she used it right here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/silviakundera/293858.html) as the subject of her post and that's December 2001.

Aw, crappity, there's a "theirloveissotragic" reference the day before that one. Which means there's more etymology going on than we realized.

[identity profile] tzikeh.livejournal.com 2003-07-09 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
ROFL! Can we ask Silvia where she got it, or if she coined it?

I've got a -sopure on 12/14/01 (http://www.livejournal.com/users/silviakundera/286118.html) and a -sotragic on 12/9/01 (http://www.livejournal.com/users/silviakundera/276602.html). sopure is Erik and Ashley, sotragic is Brian and Nick.

So, I think the phrase started in the crossover NSYNC/BSB popslash fandom, mutated into the -sopure version with Silvia and O-Town, and then spread like FIYAH! =)
