Eeek.

The kids were playing, and Little Fayoumis fell over, and started crying. Real pain crying. "My back!" is not something you ever want to hear from a kid.

He was not screaming, though, and able to walk, so I sent him to lie down and sent Tommy and Angelica home. (Side note: Angelica's still putting things in her mouth. I'm not equipped to deal with her.) (Other side note: damn brats didn't shut the door all the way. Will be noting this to them the next time they come over. Without the profanity.)

By the time I came back with an ice pack, he was feeling fine, but I'm going to keep him lying down for the rest of the hour, just to make sure.

A Fact That Should Be Better Known

For children (for anyone, really), cannabis is a safer pain reliever than aspirin, tylenol, whatever new-fangled non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs they have out there, not to mention opiates. Every other drug that is given for pain has more or less serious side effects: aspirin eats holes in the lining of your stomach. Tylenol and most of the other NSAIDs are liver toxic and often have other obnoxious effects. Opiates can cause serious constipation.

The trick, of course, is getting the dose right. This is only a trick because most people don't like their children to smoke. A quarter gram eaten is enough for most adults to feel. I normally calculate my recipes so that there is a quarter gram in each cookie or brownie or whatever. Then a larger person might eat two or three a smaller person a half or a quarter.

This shouldn't be construed as medical advice because, well, it's seriously illegal for me to give medical advice, and unlike any medical advice you might receive, whatever this is is free.

Finally, persons not used to eating cannabis should definitely not operate heavy machinery.

I am sorry to hear that.
