Not putting him to bed at eight was perhaps not the brightest move.

Having him be doing the reading (out of practice over summer, notoriously squirrely at the best of times) at ten was perhaps up there for 'brilliant' with... um... removing the tapes from the combat suits of the rescue mission and replacing it with a vaguely worded appendix about an error causing the plasma arc to lock on. Just as a random example.

The half-hour screaming fit has stopped, thankfully. But it's really not my concern anymore. I gave that up.

Ooof. Been there, done that, poured ashes over the torn t-shirt while chanting "Mea culpa..."

I remember very clearly the age when the difference between "awake, cheery, and a little tired" and "psychotically exhausted" was about...thirty seconds. We got to where we could practically hear the timer start to tick.

Not that it helps much right now - but they do grow out of it. You then get a +/- seven-year breather, and then puberty starts.

The similarities are...distressing. ;)

Myself, I try and avoid doing anything with him other than putting him to bed after 8:30 pm.
