No. Just... no.

So I'm reading my networking book, and you know it's late at night, because suddenly I get this brilliant idea: a drink. Not just any drink. A seven-layer OSI model network drink.

[livejournal.com profile] azurelunatic (11:20:36 PM): I have just had a really bad idea.
[livejournal.com profile] sithjawa (11:20:39 PM): oh?
[livejournal.com profile] azurelunatic (11:21:18 PM): I need names of alcohol starting with the letters P, D, N, T, S, P, and A.
[livejournal.com profile] azurelunatic (11:21:33 PM): For a seven-layered OSI drink.
[livejournal.com profile] sithjawa (11:21:42 PM): Kill me now.
[livejournal.com profile] azurelunatic (11:30:13 PM): Peppermint schnapps, Dark creme de cacao, Nassau orange, Tequila, Strawberry schnapps, Peach schnapps, Almond amarretto
[livejournal.com profile] sithjawa(11:30:25 PM): NO DRINK
[livejournal.com profile] sithjawa (11:30:27 PM): is EVER
[livejournal.com profile] azurelunatic (11:30:40 PM): Never?
[livejournal.com profile] sithjawa (11:30:43 PM): allowed to contain peppermint, peach, and amaretto all together.
[livejournal.com profile] sithjawa (11:30:44 PM): EVER.
[livejournal.com profile] sithjawa (11:30:55 PM): ESPECIALLY not with tequila.
[livejournal.com profile] azurelunatic (11:30:59 PM): but... is OSI model drink!
[livejournal.com profile] sithjawa (11:31:39 PM): *gag*
[livejournal.com profile] sithjawa (11:31:45 PM): And *still* kill me now :D
[livejournal.com profile] azurelunatic (11:32:06 PM): Fine. *huff* YOU find alcohol that tastes good together starting with those letters.
[livejournal.com profile] sithjawa (11:32:10 PM): *ggl*

The eventual vote of the committee was thus: peach schnapps, dark creme de cacao, ninety-nine blackberries, tequila, strawberry schapps, plum wine, apple schnapps, to form the Physical, Data Link, Network, Transport, Session, Presentation, and Application layers of the drink.

A, C, T, G

I bet your could make a fairly tasty base-pair drink!

That's... actually, a really good idea. I've been told of the pizza line for the OSI model (please do not throw sausage pizza away), but I like the drinky drinks better. :)

Snicker... *that* would be classic.

You need to check their specific gravity, to see if they'll *stay* in that order if you pour them that way. Kind of important, if you're making a layered drink.

The only one listed by name on the gravity chart at Webtender is dark creme de cacao, which is 1.14. The only schnapps listed on the chart is peppermint, which is 1.04. Peach liquer is listed at 1.04, but apricot liquer at 1.09, and strawberry liquer is 1.12.

Layers

Physical to App or App to Physical doesn't matter. People assume you're using an application, but security needs to come in from Physical to Application.

And stuff does most definitely blend. There is no such thing as a pure Layer 2 or pure Layer 3 switch any more. Feature creep. Lurks all over, creeps all over, doesn't clean up when it's done...

yes they do... and life is better with developers doing the domination role. When customers do it, you get shit like microsoft makes.

ROFL so soooo soooo true... and so Dilbert...

Even worse is when senators want to make legislation. They required a piece of software that was insane. Not possible. But if they made it law...

It was supposed to be a new digital protocol to solve All Issues With Media and Copyright at the same time.

I'm plotting something similar for discussion forums. One fundamental idea is to keep federal politics out of social affairs completely. Hopefully we can effectively extend this to technology and business as well for the citizen voter. Industry would have its own systems and its own branch of the government but would be effectively powerless against other branches (like the House of Commons).

An important part of this system would be privacy and anonymity, possible using public/private key cryptography.
