My personal favorite is using cable-ties for bondage when I can't seem to find anything else. Heh heh.

I usually have a bunch of cable ties in my suitcase when I'm travelling. While they are at times useful for attaching and fixing things, the main purpose of including them in the luggage is ... well ... attaching and fixing other things. No security check at any airport, USA and Israel included, has so far commented.

If enough of you wear them it'll become fashionable. Then non-geek, "popular" girls will buy them at little accessory boutiques for $7.99/pack of 10, only they'll be sparkly, perhaps even metallic. Then you, the geek girls of the world, will be made fun of for wearing one on the grounds that your only emulating the "cool" people. Its a vicious cycle. :)

Hey! What about us longhaired geek guys?
Heh. I've even used twist ties when my hair tie broke and I didn't have spares. I've tried, for a very short time (like seconds) to use the velcro cable wraps, with predictably painful results. (was in data center installing hardware, and hair tie broke. Hair was in face, and I needed to get it out of my face to get the job done)

My best friend, a classically handsome longhaired geek guy, had his hair cut short for a job interview. For Valentine's Day, I gave him some new hairties. (The cutest wrapping paper, too -- explosions and dynamite and grenades and bombs and little hearts.)
