When I was about three, the wolf whistle was the first thing I managed when I first learned to whistle. I was too young to have a clue as to what it meant; I just thought of it as whistling. At the time, my Dad was teaching Band at Washington State University, and he often took me with him, as my Mom worked full-time at the Library. So we're walking along the campus, and I'm playing around with my whistling, when some girl happens along. I whistle, she glares at my Dad, and he points at me. "It was the kid." "Yeah, right, buddy."
I had a cockateal once upon a time, who learned two sounds.
Wolf whistles and the dive alarm from WWII submarines. Strange bird. Of course, my dad was pretty odd for trying to teach the strange bird that sounds.
1966 ... a 19 year old guy was in the hospital after a motorcycle accident. One day, he saw this pretty girl walk by his room on her way to visit her father on the same floor. He whistled. They dated, then married ... and that's how my parents met.
Insincere vs. clueless

Re: Insincere vs. clueless
I hear it's a fairly common thing for speaking birds to learn.
