Geek showing through

Sheesh. I go to type 'cereal bars', and it comes out 'cereal vars' as being the most natural thing to type.

My inner geek is showing up, I think.

At least it wasn't serial vars. That would have just been wrong.

It scares me, a little (and yes, I typed 'scars' first) that I should be so g33k that 'vars' is more natural to type than 'bars'.

Only related to your post in that it's geeky...

I looked up the 'Teddyborg' thing, and it made me think...

Imagine taking something like the tiny embedded systems you get (like this one - which would work well since it has no ports on the board, so you can just put your extenders into the motherboard headers), putting it into a bear (or whatever), and having it as an active and working router or firewall? (You use CompactFlash cards, so there's no discs. You can't do much with it, but it's good for a custom embedded system.)

You could use a 'Barney' doll...

The ultimate firewall.

Not only would it provide network protection, but no one would ever want to touch it to try and tamper with it.

There's also the satisfaction you'd get from turning one inside out.

You could make a range of client machines, like an X-terminal, or something that streams video over the network from a server. Imagine someone asking why you have a cute toy next to your TV, and you tell them that that's your PVR.
